Biography: Lt-Col. Frank Flavelle McEachren, CM, CVO, ED, CD

Lt-Col. Frank Flavelle McEachren, CM, CVO, ED, CD

One of the Founding Members of the Society, Colonel Frank F. McEachren lived in Toronto, being on the senior executive of the T. Eaton Company. He served as Commanding Officer of the 48th Highlanders of Canada, his personal pipe banner hanging for many years in its officers' mess.

As a personal friend of Her Majesty, Col. McEachren was asked to serve as "guardian" and host to Prince Andrew, when the latter did his year at Lakefield College. It is recalled that when, during this time, the Prince visited the colonel's Muskoka cottage, special dishes and a chef were brought up from the Royal York Hotel for the occasion.

Colonel McEachren was among those involved with the concept of a Canadian Heraldic Authority and was one of those that attended the meeting of the Parliamentary Commission in 1987 when the matter was under consideration.
